RE: Allison won't go into gear (sometimes)

Idle speed is OK at about 700, and air pressure has to be up before the HWH will let the coach go into 'travel' mode. I will check for an error code with the up/down arrows. I do not have a 'check transmission' or 'check engine' light on in the dash. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep them coming.

Allison won't go into gear (sometimes)

6 speed Allison 4060 A couple of times now, I push the D button and the tranny does not go into the forward gear. The last time I did get it to go into Reverse, then I tried D again and it worked. Today however, it took D,R,N,UP/DOWN and other combinations before the Allison finally engaged. What could be causing this condition?

RE: Batwing with new HD didn't work with old analog TV

That was the silly question. Do you have a digital tuner in your present TV? Your original post did not say. If you do not, then you cannot receive over the air DTV.

RE: Batwing with new Digital didn't work with old analog TV

Silly question. Do you have an HD Tuner in your TV or a Converter Box if you don't have an HD Tuner.

RE: Left Lane is there for what reason?

erm... No. The accident isn't "caused" by a slow-mover, unless it just wandered into your path and you had nowhere to go. Accidents the I'll-Be-First-Or-You'll-Be-Sorry motorist loves to BLAME on somebody "in-the-way" are caused by slobbering on somebody's tailpipe to "teach them a lesson." If you're following somebody and he hits the brakes without your permission :E either you can still decelerate well-enough not to hit him--or you were following too closely. It might be WISE for the person in front to consider the physical consequences of getting rear-ended, but it isn't his lawful duty. There is a legal term for bearing down on somebody with a heavy-enough object he'd BETTER consider that--and it isn't "teaching-that-slowpoke-a-lesson." In general, it's called extortion, or brandishing & menacing--that sort of thing. Hit the nail right on the head.

RE: DHL/FedEx/UPS???

DHL in Mexico. They are all over. UPS and FedEx not as reliable.

RE: Generator start up.

Do you have a boost switch that connects the house batteries with the coach batteries? With this switch ON the engine alternator will charge both house and chassis batteries. It sounds like the generator start batteries are just low.

RE: Opinions on Elite Motorhomes

The older Foretravel Grandvilla is on a Gillig chassis. Lots of them still on the road.

RE: Maine coast

If you like to hike and bike, Bar Harbor - Acadia National Park is the place. Waterfront camping is available at Mt. Desert Narrows Campground. Camden is pretty too.

RE: Alarms

We don't bother. There are so many false alarms, no one pays any attention anyway. When is the last time you saw anyone rushing to help someone whose car alarm went off. It someone wants into your RV an alarm is not going to stop them. For that matter, a lock isn't going to stop them either.

How about the Colorado River, or Lake Mead?

RE: CB channel?

We listen to 19 going down the road. It can be entertaining listening to the truckers. Sometimes switch to 13 and for fun try to raise other RVs. In 2 years have never talked to anyone on 13. When we see another Foretravel we switch to 4 and talk to them.

RE: New to RV'ing

We did Mexico year before last in our Class A. We enjoyed the Copper Canyon, Guadalajara and Mazatlan. We got as far south as Puerto Vallarta and then came back up through the interior and around Mexico city. Came back into the US in Brownsville. We actually liked Zihuatanejo much more than Mazatlan. Weather and water is much warmer. You might have a problem getting reservations further south than Mazatlan, but we seemed to do OK without them. I can't help on the bringing down 3 vehicles with 2 people but someone will have an answer. I would have spare tire(s) for the truck and trailer. Some roads are pretty bad. We put some nasty cuts in our tires but thankfully had no failures. Check out our website for other places we went in Mexico. Wherever you go, you are going to have fun.

RE: Mississippi River Road

Don't know what you are camping in, but I was disappointed in the condition of the Blue Ridge Parkway this past summer. The tree branches were not trimmed and in our Class A we were beat severely and coninuously on top and on the side of our coach. Natchez Trace and Skyline were fine however.
